Water Damage Repair in Aberdeen

North-east weather is hard on phones. Sideways rain, a dropped handset in a puddle on Union Street, salt spray on a boat trip, or simply a cup of tea knocked over at the desk can all cause faults that appear days later. Our St Nicholas Centre counter strips, cleans and repairs wet devices, including batteries affected by liquid.

Water-Damaged Phone Repair in Aberdeen

First rule: switch it off and leave the charger alone. Plugging in a wet phone to test it is the quickest way to cause permanent damage.

Then get it to Unit W7. We open the phone, inspect the board under magnification and clean off the residue liquid leaves behind. After drying and testing, you’ll know which parts survived and what any repair would cost.

Tablet and iPad Water Damage Repair

Large and flat, tablets catch spills easily, from juice at the breakfast table to rain through a car window. Liquid often runs under the screen before reaching the board or battery.

Glued tablets need careful opening with heat and specialist tools. Once inside, we assess every affected area and clean the corrosion, then tell you which components are fine and which need replacing, with a price for each.

Even if it appears to work, a tablet that’s been soaked is worth checking. Corrosion develops slowly over days, and catching it early usually keeps the cost down.

Laptop Liquid Damage Repair in Aberdeen

A laptop keyboard sits right above its most delicate components, so spills travel fast. Sugary drinks are particularly bad, leaving a sticky film that keeps corroding long after the liquid itself has dried.

Our laptop team takes the machine apart, washes residue off the board and swaps out whatever has been damaged beyond rescue, very often only the keyboard. The price comes first, before any parts are ordered.

If it happens: unplug the charger, hold the power button until it’s off, and turn the laptop upside down. Then bring it to the St Nicholas Centre as soon as possible.

Won't Charge After Getting Wet

Corroded charging ports are common after a soaking. A thorough clean or replacement port usually brings charging back.

Not Necessarily the End

What We Do Once It's Handed Over

With liquid damage, speed matters, so we prioritise wet devices wherever we can. The sooner they’re opened and cleaned, the less corrosion can take hold.

Once it’s on our bench at FoneTech Aberdeen, the device is stripped, washed and dried, then each component is tested in turn. Sometimes a good clean is enough; sometimes a port, speaker or battery needs replacing. You’ll get the verdict and the cost before we spend a penny of your money.

If the device itself can’t be saved, we can often still recover your photos, contacts and other data from it.

FAQ

Water Damage Questions

Unlikely. Rice may soak up surface water, but it can't remove the minerals and residue that corrode the board. Opening and cleaning the phone is what helps.

It's worth a check. Corrosion can take days to cause problems, and early cleaning can stop faults developing, such as a charging port that fails or a speaker that fades.

Seals weaken with age, drops and previous repairs, so resistance isn't guaranteed. Treat any soaking as a reason to get it checked over.

That depends on what's been affected. We'll inspect it first and give you a price, so you can decide whether going ahead is worthwhile.

Often, even when the phone can't be fully repaired. Bring it in quickly, because the chances fall the longer corrosion is left.

Often. They get the same treatment as phones: opened, cleaned, dried and tested, with damaged parts swapped out.
